Midday Headlines – February 18th, 2026 ##### **> >Significant Snowfall Along North Shore and Northern Minnesota** (Duluth, MN) — A blizzard warning continues along the North Shore where more than a foot of snow has fallen in places like Two Harbors and Finland. Duluth National Weather Service Meteorologist Nathan Lynum says this winter storm isn’t over yet. He says there is the potential for another six to eight inches in the Arrowhead. Chisholm received eight inches overnight, six inches fell in Bemidji, five in Coleraine, and four-and-a-half inches at Warroad. It has been raining in central and southern Minnesota and that is changing over to light snow as temperatures fall. ##### **> >Red Flag Warning Issued for Southwest Minnesota Counties** (Sioux Falls, SD) — A Red Flag Warning is in effect today (Wed 10-6) for three counties in southwestern Minnesota where there is no snowpack. The National Weather Service is warning of extreme fire risk conditions in Jackson, Nobles, and Rock counties. Forecasters say fires can spread quickly and grow out of control with strong wind gusts and low humidity. The D-N-R will not issue burning permits in those three counties and campfires are discouraged. ##### **> >Minnesota Housing Market Cooled in January** (Grand Rapids, MN) — A blast of Arctic air cooled both Minnesotans and the housing market in January. Along with the usual winter slowdown, extreme cold, economic uncertainty, and recent federal enforcement actions left many buyers and sellers hesitant to make major purchases. Minnesota Realtors president Wendy Uzelac of Grand Rapids says all signs are pointing to a strong 2026. Anthony was closing Ultimate Liquors in Pine River just before 10 p.m. on February 27th, 2001. Her car was found still running around 1 a.m., the back door was unlocked, and her purse and coat were inside. Anthony’s body was found six weeks later near Breezy Point. This past near-decade of shooting with Eva has fostered so much growth on so many levels. When we met I was VERY new and really still trying to figure out which end of the camera pointed where. By the time summer rolled around, though, we launched ourselves out into the Oregon desert and started a pattern of adventures that has carried us along ever since. The flip side of desert adventures, however, has been a remarkable series of quietly beautiful moments in opportunistic bits of sunshine. Eva spotted the change in light and made a beeline for a lacy window and the pale winter sun. There is a place in a photograph where the observer can build their own story...and a line between what the model brings to the story and being a blank canvas for others to project onto. At our best, it feels like we meet somewhere in the lens and the story flows both ways. I often feel very spoiled to work with such great models and settings here in Oregon. I always find myself wanting to show off the state when traveling models come through -- I could audition for the role of "Julie the tour director"! The other real pleasure is getting to spend a day with someone and capture something special about them. In a shoot early in my so-called career, working with a very butch rugby player from the local college, I was thrilled to get a very sweet thank you note back after sharing the images in which she said "I had never really seen myself as a beautiful woman before" and I think about that from time to time when pondering photography as therapy. It works on both sides!
