I ADORE this pattern. Simple, well written, tons of sizes and gauges, and a hat that does what a hat is supposed to do... This one will be finished outside-in, I like the purl side better.

A column of newly tidied joins, still visible but more stable and smoother in the striped knot fabric.
And here's the result. I used a long strand of the dark green and duplicate stitched the green joins, zigzagging down the back to the next section. It helped close some gaps created by pulling the yarns up during knitting. Good enough.

Okay, I ripped back a second time and am knitting my #musselburgh hat to an even larger gauge. Maybe it's the #handspunyarn at fault, or perhaps the way this shape naturally expands as I knit farther. I'm hopeful. At least I'm loving the yarns. #ShowMeYourKnits WIPS #menwhoknit
