A Message of Hope

I want to let you know that things do get better, you don’t have to feel like this. Asking for help is not weak or a failure, it is brave. Keep safe, and call for help now. So many of us have been where you are and are happier than we would have thought possible after getting help.

Don’t suffer in silence. Seeking support is one of the bravest things you can do. If you are unable to access confidential addiction or mental health treatment from local services in England or Scotland, register with NHS Practitioner Health today. #NSMD #HopeThroughAction

A very important day in the calender for those of us working to support healthcare professionals.

Today we should not only remember those we've lost, but seek to do better to make sure that no healthcare worker ever feels that ending their life is the only option left.

Today is National Suicide Memorial Day for Health and Care Workers. We launched this day a year ago to act as a permanent point in the calendar where we could remember friends, colleagues and family members who had struggled with their mental health and who we had lost to suicide. We hope this day serves a way to reflect and honour those people and their vocation, but also importantly acts as a beacon of hope for anyone who is finding life difficult right now and needs to know there are people who care and can help.

We would encourage every member of the workforce today to take a moment to look around them, notice how they and their team are doing, to offer a time and place to sit down and talk, and offer hope through those small actions of support and understanding.

Feedback Friday

I will be forever grateful to Practitioner Health as it was a literal life saver. I was pulled out of a very dark place and without their help and persistence, I wouldn't be here today. It was so easy for my clinician to build rapport with me and gain my confidence which is absolutely crucial for the treatment, management, and recovery in such cases. I cannot praise her enough. She showed incredible patience with me when I am sure others would have given up, and it paid off.

A Message of Hope: World Suicide Prevention Day
Things might feel difficult now.
You might have experienced challenges before and worked your way through, but maybe this one is hitting harder, or the strengths and strategies you leaned on before aren't available. That's ok.
You don't need to manage this on your own.
For those of us who work in this field, it's our privilege to stand alongside you in the hardest moments.
Please, do reach out. You don’t have to carry this alone.

A Message of Hope: National Suicide Memorial Day for Health and Care Workers
Please remember that help is ALWAYS available. Even if it feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel, it doesn't mean there is no light, just that you can't see it right now. If you feel hopeless, it doesn't mean there is no hope. You might want to end your pain, but there are safe ways to get through any situation with the right support. Every life matters. You matter. Even when you can't see this universal truth, it remains true.
