Then a quote by Jack Barrie 1977, whose family immigrated from Scotland in 1900 to settle in this area. It reads: "LET NO ONE SAY AND SAY IT TO YOUR SHAME THAT ALL WAS BEAUTY HERE UNTIL YOU CAME”

An Act of Parliament authorized the creation of the North-West Mounted Police. The “Royal” prefix was added 31 years later.
Sixteen years after that, in 1920, they became the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, as they remain today.
