This is a close-up photograph of a butterfly perched on a yellow wildflower.
	•	The butterfly is shown in sharp detail, with wings folded upright. Its wings are patterned in shades of gray, brown, and pale blue, with darker spots and wavy lines. The underwings have a somewhat mottled, camouflage-like appearance, helping it blend into tree bark or foliage.
	•	The butterfly has large compound eyes, long antennae with orange tips, and a visible proboscis (feeding tube) extended toward the flower.
	•	The flower it is feeding on has bright yellow petals radiating around a cluster of small, tightly packed golden buds at its center. Green stems and leaves surround the blossom.
	•	The background is softly blurred in green tones, making the butterfly and flower stand out sharply in focus.

This butterfly is a Hackberry Emperor (Asterocampa celtis), a North American species commonly found in wooded areas near hackberry trees, which serve as host plants for its caterpillars.

A Boloria dia butterfly sits on the flowers of a lantana plant, sipping nectar and fluttering it's wings. The butterfly has wings that look like the frames of a stained glass window, where the glass areas are opaque and filled with whites, tans, and browns. There is a row of false eyes on the edge of the wings and a splash of orange. The lantana has alternating pink and yellow flowers.

So exciting! A butterfly was visiting the native perennial garden I planted in a bump-out around the corner from my house last time I went to water. I think it's a Silver Spotted Skipper!
