A single purple flower. The petals are bilabiate, with three lobes pointing downards, and two pointing up. The petals are pale purple, with a yellow patch streaked with dark purple at the throat. A tubular spur points upwards behind the flower. The flower stalk is covered with tiny gland-tipped hairs. Framing the flower on either side are Empetrum (crowberry or blackberry) twigs. The Empetrum leaves are less than 1 cm long themselves, but the branches tower over the tiny Pinguicula stem. 40 image stack
Another portrait of Pinguicula villosa. The flower is less than 1 cm from the edge of the bottom lip to the tip of the spur! I needed 40 shots to get the whole flower in focus.

I single flower atop a narrow, leafless stem. The stem is fringed with white hairs, which stick out from the stem at right angles, backlit by the sun. The stem curls back on itself at the top, hold the flower from above. The flower is pale purple, with a spur arching upwards, and the mouth opening downwards. The lower stem is obscured by out of focus vegtation, and the margins of the image are decorated with bokeh swirls. 15 image stack.
