I felt that this black and white photo of a dahlia falls under the theme of "Recognize" because it says so much, like the blurred background with the wonderful bokeh that seems to be hiding something, or the microcosm in and on the dahlia blossom, like a fly that has landed briefly on the left and a spider has found its hiding place in the upper middle of the blossom. The blossom itself appears star-shaped and slightly asymmetrical, with outer and middle petals and the flower core that has not yet opened; it looks like a closed claw that is ready to catch the incoming sunlight. Ultimately, the interplay of the three flower sections, alternating with light to dark shades of gray in this monochrome photograph, creates the impression of a fire of nature that wants to be seen and radiates a magical attraction.
