Still habing massibe problems with my #PineTime. It keeps freezing randomly, feels like chsrging it to 100% is a guarantee to blackscreen it. Weird graphical glitches, the green (bootloader?) pinecone often not finishing, just getting stuck, sometimes the pinecone starts mid-screen, gets stuck […]

Aaaand my #PineTime is alive again! 🥳 Apparently it was stuck in a 100% CPU loop, at least the battery was drained after a day, which normally lasts a month or so. The charger instantly brought it back to life.
My initial #PineTime died a year ago after a good year of all-day usage. @pine64eu ghosted my warranty case forever and now I just bought a new one. It is now (after one week!) stuck on the just-backlit black screen, no matter what I do. Pressing the button until the doctor comes does nothing […]

just curiosity:
Is anyone of you having and using a PineTime?
They are quite cheap (~30-40€) - it sounds funny. but I want to hear what you do with it (I'm living at the moment without a smart watch - and that's okay. it sounds more like a funny gadget...) […]

Their e-ink watches are also heart and pace monitors. And they want data connections that I never give them. I like the #PineTime and I think it would be perfect if it had an e-ink screen.

Well, my #PineTime has a massive crack in the screen. Might be time to look at a replacement soon. What is everybody using nowadays? I'm tempted to pick up another one, as I had almost no issues with it.
#Garmin seems like a good brand with some open source aspects to it. Might be an […]
Anyone else being ghosted since 8 months by @pine64eu for a ⌚ #PineTime warranty case? I eventually received an email in October 2024 where they confirmed they'll send me a replacement. I regularly followed up via Mastodon and email, but have been ghosted since, no reaction whatsoever. 🙄
Having watch faces be directly coded into the firmware has to be one of the dumbest things about the #PineTime watch. Who the fuck thought that was a good idea?? You shouldn't have to recompile the entire firmware just to change the background image!
Also there is no way to do ANY customization […]

First time tinkering with the #PineTime firmware: made the stopwatch like the familiar iOS one!
I've bought a #Bangle.js 2 at #FOSDEM, I like it!
I've charged it once just after FOSDEM (on Sunday), and it still shows 40% of battery, screen is sun readable, and several useful sensors.
Being a #Python dev, I was more into micropython (I have a #PineTime with #WaspOS). But the #espruino […]
With #PebbleOS released today under the Apache License by Alphabet, and the original Pebble founder wanting to bring the platform back, I wonder how the new watches will compare to modern things like #PineTime and if we'll see cross-pollination between PebbleOS and #MobileLInux […]

A smartwatch on a person's wrist. The display is set up to look like a Linux command line terminal.
My #PineTime #smartwatch arrived earlier today, and although I don't expect to use it, I was pleased to see that there is an option to have this very geeky watch face.

The last day of the #RIOTSummit is used for the hackathon. We've learned a bit about time in the presentation, so why not work on clocks? (here: #pinetime, #banglej2)

I have a question about the #PineTime watch. I can see that it has a heart rate monitor, and can display the wearer's current pulse.
Can it log that data over time, either on the watch or a linked phone, to be viewed later?
I really would love a way to connect the PineTime open source smartwatch, through bluetooth, to AI models running from my phone. That would be EPIC.

Shows a PineTime smartwatch on my wrist. It’s using an old school watch face that makes it look like a Casio
New toy came in the mail today, a #PineTime! It’s an open source smart watch for ~$30. Is it something I would recommend to people? Honestly no, but it’s going to be a great little project to help me brush up on my C++.
