Question for #plantscience #plantsynbio: has anyone tried any version of the dTAG system in a plant? Curious if the small molecule component is absorbed properly 🤔. #dTAG #synbio

#plantsynbio peeps, has anyone played around with cell penetrating peptides? some of the papers look fairly convincing for delivery of DNA e.g. 10.1021/acs.biomac.8b00323. but am curious why not used more widely. Viruses and agro are just easier for most applications?

I am happy to be one of the instructors for the #PlantSynbio course here in Evora.
We are not only teaching the plantsynbio core principles, but also do a practical lab part together, where we do a plant promoter comparison via transient Ruby reporter expression 🌱

Today I had the chance to kickstart the #Plantsynbio course by @synbio4allafrica.bsky.social.

I was very excited to give the "Introduction to Plant Synthetic Biology" lecture and at the same time blown away by the engagement of the african community!

Stay tuned for the next weeks of the course!

I am very happy to see this work published. It took a lot of effort and coordination among many people.

Hopefully, high throughput and cheap Agrobacterium transformation will reduce the bottleneck in screening experiments fundamental for #PlantSynBio.

@johnathan-n.bsky.social on engineering omega-3-fatty acids in plants.
- Engineering plants takes decades
- ~100 person years to prototype
- screening 100s of events.
- Camelina - only crop can transform by floral dip
- very likely most T-DNAs are multimetized
