Claudette Colbert is so good as a world-weary chanteuse daylighting as a radio kids show host.
But watch for Cora Sue Collins (1927-2025) who knocks her small-but-pivotal role out of the park. What a natural.

Finally (for now), THE BITTER TEA OF GENERAL YEN (1932) is difficult. It’s perfect #PreCodeApril content with forbidden love and sex dreams and interracial romance…but the racism and yellowface and lack of Asian actors in this movie set in China is shocking.
