Wednesday, Project Positivity Day 349: I fixed my phone all by myself! My screen had cracked and the display was having serious problems. I was able to order a new screen kit online for a lot less than a new phone, and find a couple of very useful videos. #ProjectPositivity #GoodThings

A snowy residential street in Minneapolis at night, around 5:30pm. There is at least 4 inches of accumulated snow on the ground. The sidewalk and road are covered with ice. The sky is that dark shade of blue right after sunset. A house on the left still has Christmas decorations up: luminary lanterns on their roof, light-up reindeer and gnomes in their front yard. In an intersection in the distance is a huge crowd of people, completely filling the road in all directions. In the foreground, groups of people are walking on the sidewalks and in the street between parked cars to join them.

Yes, there's video (played on Fox of all places, among others), and it's pretty clear that what they're claiming (self-defense) isn't what really happened. Finding something positive is awfully hard. But as the saying goes, we still have to chop wood, carry water. 🧵

Photo of an asphalt street taken from the parallel sidewalk. Across the street is a house with dark gray-green siding and very enthusiastic bushes. A perpendicular crack runs across the width of the street. In one spot, there is a 4-foot-diameter circle of cracks around a dent, like somebody tapped a crème brûlée. Two traffic cones guard the center of the dent.

#ProjectPositivity Day 133. Went for a penny walk (or in our case, a "dollah dollah walk," 'cause I flip a $1 coin instead of a penny) with the kids. Discovered a new neighborhood sinkhole! #GoodThings #MorningWalk

The interior of a reptile tank. Brown branches and brown leaves cover the ground, closely matching the brown color, sharp curved shape, and ridged scale pattern of the two South American Dead Leaf lizards in the tank. It almost looks like they are wearing armor made from the leaves. In the top right hand quarter of the picture, an artificial green plant has a fly on it which appears to have attracted the attention of one of the lizards.

#ProjectPositivity Day 132 Good trip to Twin Cities Reptiles. Made a store clerk crack up when she overheard me telling my kid, "The 'if it's on sale' policy does not apply to reptiles!" (A lovely reticulated python was "only" $1,200.) Shown: South American Dead Leaf lizards. #Reptile #GoodThings

#ProjectPositivity Day 106: I am very grateful for my spouse's love and worry and care. He worked from home to keep an eye on me and make sure everything was okay (don't ask). And he did dishes and laundry and ferried the girl to her first trapeze (!?!) lesson. #GoodThings

Easter Sunday, #ProjectPositivity Day 81. For the first time in a week, I didn't need to use my cane or knee brace once all day! Did I do much? No. It was a very low-energy day. But I'll still take it as a win! #GoodThings

Street scene approaching George Floyd Square. Left to right: a twenty-foot-tall closed fist roundabout sculpture with a black and red flag hanging from it; parked cars along the side of the road; an official roundabout warning sign; two white kids walking their black lab; brick buildings with business awnings; in the distance, a Cup Foods, Western Union, Checks Cashed sign; above the buildings, a billboard saying, "Planet Fitness, Best Deal on the Net, Only $15"; nearby, a chain link fence in front of a person's home with a black sedan parked in front of their garage. On the side of the closest brick building is a peeling mural of two light blue-skinned people representing Lauren London and Nipsey, under the words Hustle & Motivate (referencing Nipsey's song) and down the side are the words Lauren London. Not shown: author signature is (maybe) Joemurals@gmail.com.

#ProjectPositivity Day 59: A lovely walk through George Floyd Square to the Dairy Queen shack that just reopened! Tried the French silk pie blizzard. 'Twas 71° F, the warmest it will be for the next 10 days (snow Sunday?). Got some good #StreetArt photos. #Photography #StreetPhotography #GoodThings

#ProjectPositivity Day 58: Doing author taxes means looking at expenses, including all the books bought in the past year. It's inspired me to pick some of these books back up and escape into a world away from the current catastrophes. Books are comfort. #GoodThings #Booksky #AmReading #WritersLife

#ProjectPositivity Day 55: First bike ride of the season! Just a trip to the hardware store for a home repair project (yes, I looked very silly biking with a sheet of plexiglass sticking out of my backpack), but it felt good to brush off the dust and get air in the tires. #GoodThings #SignsOfSpring

Photo of a stage set from the high back seats of the theatre. Some red seats and audience are visible. The set is decorated primarily in blue, with secondary green colors, and red decorative accents. It is of a country parlor, all woodwork and mounted antlers and chandeliers--yes, chandeliers--done in gorgeous shades of blue. Two stairs open off the back of the set, leading to green hallways, and there are four other closed stage doors. There is a fireplace and tall built-in bookshelf, a sofa, a desk and chair, and a lounging chair near the fireplace. The casement window in the back of the set shows a manufactured scene of trees with snow on them. The level of snow will change during the play.

In the close of the golden hour as sunset creeps closer, a mishmash of silver maple branches are dotted with fluffy white-and-red clusters limned in golden light. There are some boring buildings behind the branches, but whatever. It's the flowers that matter.

#ProjectPositivity Day 52. I enjoyed watching Leverage's "The 10 Li'l Grifters Job" with the kids (as is our Friday night tradition). The writers were obviously having So Much Fun playing with the "solving a murder in an isolated mansion with a houseful of suspects" trope. #GoodThings #TV

Menu. The Jerk

It's our top-seller for a reason — an irresistible combination of mild-spiced Jamaican jerk seasoned chicken, mozzarella cheese and house-made guava jam has just the right amount of kick. DSC03491-3.png
Four Cheese

Classic, but not basic. This one features everything seasoning bread with asiago, parmesan, sharp cheddar, and mozzarella cheese.Apple Brie

Our newest addition to the menu: Crisp, tart Granny Smith apple slices meets creamy brie and mozzarella cheese.

Basil Pesto

For big flavor lovers, we pile fresh basil on top of basil pesto and a mound of mozzarella cheese.

Jalapeño Popper

This sandwich is an ode to a classic appetizer: cream cheese, cheddar cheese, pickled jalapeno, and bacon. Jonny Tsunami

This crowd favorite features pepper jack cheese, chicken, brown sugar bacon, and house-made ranch.

Plus sides.

#ProjectPositivity, Day 37. The smell of baking sourdough pretzels makes my brain happy. And I tried weighing the flour (instead of measuring) for the first time. That's the easiest dough has ever come together. I'm a convert! www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/sour...

A grinning tween in winter coat, hat, boots, and mittens holds a two and a half foot long, four inch thick, one foot wide shelf of icy snow. Behind her is the red privacy fence (taller than her) that she will yeet it over. She is standing on a cleared section of the driveway, but there is still plenty of snow all around: in the alley, piled up against the fence, and still to be shoveled (by me) from the driveway.

#ProjectPositivity, Day 36. A school snow day. My tween made me laugh while helping clear the snow from the driveway. Instead of shoveling, she found it was easier and more effective to grab huge chunks of snow with her hands and yeet them gleefully over the fence. Cracked me up. #GoodThings #Winter

A reptile terrarium sits on an IKEA shelving unit. The terrarium is empty except for lizard carpet and a smaller travel container that is holding an unhappy leopard gecko. In front of the terrarium are some rocks and feeding dishes. Perched on a radiator beside the terrarium, with her front paws resting on the IKEA unit top, is a tabby cat with her ears perked up in interest as she investigates the lid of the terrarium.
