No colour detail because it's mostly dark, too dark for my lens to gather more than it can see. I've lifted the shadows so we can at least see the belly band markings on this fluffed up redtail hawk.
Watching the traffic turn, turn, turn as the lights go down. It's rush hour darkness my friend. ๐ชถ๐ฟ๐ฆ

This is a large, bulky hawk with broad, rounded wings built for effortless soaring. Despite their impressive size and wingspan of over 4 feet, the biggest females weigh only about 3 poundsโmaking a similar-sized small dog seem chunky by comparison. Plumage: While adults are known for their namesake brick-red tail (which is only present in adults, juveniles have brown, banded tails), the rest of their plumage is incredibly diverse. Most have dark brown upperparts and pale undersides, often featuring a distinguishing dark band of streaks across the belly. The bird in your photo is likely a light morph, showing the white chest and some streaking on the chest and flanks. Eyesight & Hunting: They have phenomenal eyesight, about eight times better than a human's, allowing them to spot a mouse from 100 feet in the air. Hollywood Star: The Red-tailed Hawk has a thrilling, raspy scream ("kee-eeeee-ar") that sounds exactly like a raptor should sound. Hollywood directors love this call so much that they almost always use the Red-tail's scream as a generic sound effect for any on-screen eagle or hawk, regardless of the actual species shown.

Adults are known for their distinctive brownish-red tail, while juveniles have a pale tail with fine dark barring. They are highly adaptable hunters and can be found in various habitats, including open woodlands, shrubby fields, and even urban areas. Red-tailed hawks primarily hunt small mammals like mice and voles but will also eat small birds and reptiles.

My design for Redtail from Warriors by Erin Hunter. He is a somewhat small cat with a top heavy fluff distribution with his backside being mostly shorthaired besides his giant fluffy tail and small tufts of fur on his heels. He is mostly black with red orange patches covering his body including his muzzle, cheeks, back, chest, a hair like fluff on his head, his whole tail, and his front right paw and his back left paw. Hus front left paw is white and so is his back right paw. His eyes are amber, and he has a determined look.
