While out walking in the Forest of Bowland we came across this moving memorial tucked away in the landscape. It is easy to pass through countryside like this without realising how much aviation history it quietly holds.

The Chatham Naval Memorial, Kent, England. Around the base of the tower are 32 panels recording the names of 8,600 naval casualties of WW1 who have no known grave. In an arc around the perimeter of the site are a further 54 panels recording the names of just over 10,000 casualties of WW2 who also have no known grave. To one side are a number of addenda panels recording the names of those who were not recorded when the original panels were made.
The Chatham Naval Memorial in Kent, England, remembers over 18,600 naval casualties from both wars who have no known grave.
Included among the names are Wham, Last and Christmas.
