12 Mar 1943 // Destroyer HMS Lightning, operating out of Bône as part of Force Q, was sunk by German torpedo boats off Bizerta, Tunisia. Hit by one torpedo in the bows and a second amidships, she broke in two and sank. 47 of her crew died. (Imperial War Museum: FL 1372) #RoyalNavy #WW2 #NavalHistory
