In this mountain cameratrap images (black and white) - the most visible sights is striped tail and eye shine. A close look shows a smaller, repeat replica behind -- a baby ringtail, a tiny half-cat, half-racoon-looking critter.
It's not often we get two #ringtails in frame on a #cameratrap. These lovelies were photographed in the Galiuro Mountains, another fantastic Sky Island of Arizona.

Stealthy, Elusive Ringtail Reappears...
Coatimundi are a mix between raccoon and aardvark with their long snouts, white noises, and ringed bushy tails. This one walks toward the camera in a rocky area.
This young mountain lion passes close to the camera, mouth open, legs I motion. Cute ears this little on needs to grow into. (I could tell age based on multiple adults who passed through and filled the entire shot).
In this picture, upper right, there is a cute bear snout and one eye peeking at the camera.
Ringtails are called 'ringtail cats,' but really aren't. They ARE the size of of very small cats. This one peers right into the camera, ringed tailed lifted in the background.

a modern raccoon stands up facing a big Argentinian relative (Chapalmalania altaefrontis) that's over 1 meter high at the back.
This week, a giant procyonid the size of a black bear, from Argentina. Chapalmalania was the biggest genus in this family to live, a giant relative of #ringtails and #raccoons. This is a digital sketch/drawing I made based on the skeletal reconstruction by makairodonx.
Possum Update: All is good in PossumLand, BrisVegas, although I haven't seen Chewie for a few days, I'm sure she is ok. This young #brushtail #possum is sharing with a few #ringtails and the native rat.

Chewie the brushtail possum up in the eaves tray enjoying some banana.
Possum Update: Chewie the #brushtail #possum is going well. We were out today celebrating another trip around the sun for me (yesterday). She woke up when we got home. Happy, enjoying her banana. Also sweet potato & a bit of apple for dessert. The #ringtails did ok too. 😊🍃💚 Fed separately. All good.
