What demons did Damien still carry, never forgetting, never forgiving? I did want to pity him. But he didn’t want pity. Pity doesn’t help someone heal from trauma. It weakens agency. And for Damien, it would undermine his immense inner strength. The strength he’d needed to just survive. How could someone like Damien… truly heal?
