Sh 2-279 Running Man Nebula - unprocessed image. It's an emission/reflection nebula just north of the Orion Nebula! Dark dust clouds create the running figure silhouette in photographs.

NGC 1975 Running Man Nebula - telescope processed image. The Running Man Nebula, located in Orion's Sword, is a trio of reflection nebulae (NGC 1973, 1975, and 1977) about 1,500 light-years away. It's a stellar nursery with a shape resembling a man in motion.

NGC 1975 Running Man Nebula - unprocessed image. The Running Man Nebula gets its name from dark lanes of interstellar dust that, in photographs, form a shape resembling a running human figure. It is also known as the "Ghost Nebula" to some observers.

Not to far away from the De Marian’s nebula is #NGC1975 #RunningManNebula. Decide to let the s50 observe it for a while. #seestar #S50 #space #astronomy #amateur

A stunning mosaic showcasing the Orion Nebula (M42) in the upper right, the Running Man Nebula to its left, and the iconic dark Horsehead Nebula silhouetted against a red glow at the lower left. Alnitak, the easternmost star in Orion's belt, shines brightly to the left of the Horsehead, with the Flame Nebula situated below. This deep-field image reveals intricate tendrils of glowing hydrogen gas across the region, captured 1500 light-years away.

Stunning image of the often-overlooked reflection nebulae NGC 1977, NGC 1975, and NGC 1973 in Orion. These nebulae, located near the brighter Orion Nebula, showcase the blue reflection of interstellar dust illuminated by hot young stars. Dark regions within the nebulae create the illusion of a running man. A portion of the Orion Nebula is visible at the bottom of the image. The entire scene is approximately 1,500 light-years away.
