I guess #Sublocade is still niche enough that non-#AddictionMedicine providers will simultaneously document that a person has been getting it and that they have weird subcutaneous abdominal masses that could be cancer. 🤦‍♀️

There is no medically assisted treatment, or #MAT, for #methamphetamine cessation. As for #fentanyl, it’s becoming increasingly apparent that oral #Suboxone and injectable #Sublocade don’t fully block the strength of powder fent. Users can be engaged in MAT treatment and still experience a high.

The package insert for #Sublocade says that after reaching steady state bupe can be detectable for 12 months. That's a LONG TIME to wait to start naltrexone. But also - does "detectable" mean "not safe to start naltrexone"? 🤷‍♀️

#addictionmed twitter ! at #ASAM there was a poster & some side discussions about starting #Sublocade or XR-bupe without having started SL bupe first. Experiences with this with IV fentanyl users?

Also this would be a cool #AMERSA workshop 🙂

#AddictionMed #Sublocade question: say a patient starts (& reliably takes) at least 16mg suboxone/day for 1 week but also uses fentanyl on top of it. OK to start Sublocade or is there risk of precipitated withdrawal despite all that bup on receptors? (thanks in advance!)
