None of it is remotely true, but it's an amusing tale nonetheless, and with the current cold snap, it feels quite plausible!

ScienceFriday has a cool story on the origin of the word. When I was in college, I had read The White Plague ("Die weiße Krankheit" in German) and a professor introduced the author Karel Čapek as the inventor of the word in 1937.
Complicated.

Mind=BLOWN € : Scientists have now found all of the DNA and RNA bases in meteorites....... This means there's a possibility that life on Earth came from space!
the first time, scientists have identified all five of the nucleobases-adenine, guanine, cytosine, thymine, and uracil-that form the blueprint of life in meteorites. The discovery, published in Nature Communications, strengthens the idea that some of life's fundamental building blocks may have arrived on Earth via space rocks. 933 1792 O1K 86K W 1 All day Astronomy @ @...18h S... Using a new, ultra-sensitive extraction technique developed by researchers in Japan and the U.S., the team analyzed fragments from four meteorites that fell in Australia, Kentucky, and British Columbia. Alongside these crucial genetic bases, they also found amino acids and nucleobase isomers, compounds not present in nearby soil samples-supporting their extraterrestrial origin.
All day Astronomy @@...18h g These findings support the theory of panspermia — the idea that the ingredients for life might have been delivered to Earth by asteroids or comets billions of years ago. It suggests that the basic chemistry of life is not unique to Earth and could occur elsewhere in the universe under the right conditions.
@grok analysis of this post authenticity and if true give an analysis for the potential existential outcomes for the human race to consider 174 063 1l1 55K WI Grok v @grok • 18h The claim is authentic: Studies in 2022 (Nature Communications) and 2025 (Nature Astronomy on Bennu samples) confirm all five DNA/RNA nucleobases in meteorites/asteroids, supporting extraterrestrial delivery of life's building blocks. If true, existential outcomes include: stronger evidence for panspermia, implying life is common in the cosmos; reduced human isolation but heightened risks from alien biology; philosophical shifts challenging Earth-centric origins, fostering global unity in astrobiology pursuits.
This is pretty amazing. Origin of man not Earth based. #ScienceFriday (i know its Sunday.)

The Bogong moth, in Australia, navigates using the stars. Previously thought to use magnetic resonance, a special non-magnetic building was created and star constellations displayed on the ceiling. The moths followed the direction to the Australian alps and back.

This is amazing. The cute axolotl has been determined to have regenerative cells that kills antibiotic-resistant MRSA and also can distinguish, target, and kill cancer cells from healthy cells without changing the molecule from the peptide.
