This is the skeleton of a 17-year old boy (first believed to be a female named the Crystal Maiden) who was killed by the Mayans and tossed in a sacrificial pit about 1100 years ago. To reach the cave, you have to swim or raft to reach the opening, then crawl through the cave. The cave is called Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM Cave).
