There are many species of drakes in the Selvan, some more respected than others. The piper drake is well known for its high-pitched song and scavenging tendancies; Many an intalli on the beach has found themselves without a lunch after a piper drake’s hunt.

Veleur and Arastra sit at a bar together. Veleur has one full shot glass while Arastra is almost finished with his second. Veleur sits poised, his head resting atop his fist as he watches Arastra with amusement. Arastra leans over, one hand stiff against the bar and the other curved awkwardly towards himself. He is near frantic with his excitement, sweat on his face as he speaks to Veleur.
When he met Veleur for the first time, Arastra swore he could have dropped dead right then and there. Many, many years later: He wishes he actually had.

A very fearful paimara holds a wooden box over its head as if to peek out from beneath it. Paimara are a long fish-like species with bright scales and large fins. The paimara has a brown body and gradient red-yellow scales on its neck and trails. Its yellow fins are large and rounded. A red sash around its neck flows behind it, reminiscent of a shrimp's antennae. Beside the paimara are three emojis, a shrimp, yellow sparkles, and box trap with cheese.
A confident, scarred nyluru stares determinedly at the camera. Nyluru are a large, fat species reminiscent of salamanders. This nyluru has grey skin with white markings reminiscent of clouds. An imposing ashgorn (A fictional species resembling a prehistoric giraffe, with a long head crest and keratin scutes on its back) named Mkalu Watan looks down at something as a red shadow of an ashgorn screams behind her. Her skin is blue and purple and she is wearing orange and purple garments alongside silver jewelry on her horn and nose. A block of text in the corner says "The Nahrul Empire was the largest and bloodiest ashgorn clan in Sulashan history, having taken over nearly half of Valose at its height. Every intalli in its path was brought to their knees through fear or bloodshed. Mkalu Watan, the Nahrul Empire's founder and first warlord, was personally responsible for the deaths of millions of intalli. In death, she is deified and scorned for her atrocities."
Nearly 400 years have passed since the fall of the Nahrul Empire, but its effects on northern Valose continue to echo to this day.

A teretosi excitedly picks up a pika bun and prepares to slice it open. A large block of text sits beside the sketch "A dish popular among teretosi is the Poor Man's Marmot, otherwise known as the pika bun, a baked good with heavily spiced meat stuffing shaped to resemble a rodent. The Poor Man's Marmot is traditionally sliced open with a dewclaw, with only the stuffing consumed and bread discarded. However, during times of famine, teretosi would often resort to consumption of the entire pika bun, leading to increased bread quality and decreased meat quantity. In present day, discourse on the correct way to consume a pika bun is still abundant, especially in interspecies spaces." Underneath the text is a doodle of an extremely disappointed teretosi with a cut-open pika bun and fruit gunk on their claw. A phyoren beside them is oblivious to their disappointment and says "Oh yeah, since there's so many wyrir here I decided to replace the meat with a fruit compote, pretty inventive, am I right?"

A newborn ashgorn is licked on the head by its dam. The ashgorn is similar to a giraffe or sauropod, with a long neck, undeveloped crest, and soft pads on their long legs. The adult ashgorn is largely off-screen, with its head just barely within frame. The calf has a confused, unreadable look on its face and its back half is covered in mucus and a partially bloody fetal membrane.
After nearly a year and a half of gestation, a newborn ashgorn is finally greeted by its dam.
Calving season marks the beginning of summer, with herds all across Valose coming together to celebrate new life with various festivities and holidays alike.

Kaphla, a grumpy man who is a hybrid of two fictional species from the Selvan, the phyoren and the wyrir. He has a very humanoid face and a large, dark mane. He has desaturated blue fur that fades into a lighter pink at his mouth and at the center of his neck. There are two small scars across his nose bridge. He has bright blue eyes and large cow-like ears. He has a long, ridged horn on the center of his forehead. He is wearing a large blue mantle with intricate patterns inspired by traditional Mongolian clothing. It has a large ruff of white fur around the collar, with a silver seal and white thread tying it together around the neck. There are small bangles at the bottom of his cowl and he is wearing similar bangles as earrings.
You'd think it'd take more to smash in a magister's skull, but hey, Kaphla would say it was just god's will. Or something like that. I dunno, I don't wanna talk to the guy!

Three serpentine/fish-like creatures known as paimara fly together on a transparent background. All three of them have large fins and unique cloud-like markings on their bodies. One of them is much larger than its partner and has a desaturated brown body with dark brown-green scales on its neck and tail which transition into a lighter olive-green. It has green fins which transition into a pale yellow which match its cloud markings. Its mouth is open in a wide grin. Its partner is much smaller and is cream colored with green scales. Its fins and its markings are bright orange. As opposed to its partner, it has fins all the way down its neck, chest, and all around its tail. The third paimara is a young juvenile and is very small in comparison to its parents. It has a pale cream body, yellow-brown scales, and green fins/markings.
The paimara are quite a unique member of the intalli. Their fishy appearance is deceiving, but they're far from aquatic. They are instead blessed with magical flight, able to soar high above the clouds with a single flap of their flippers. 🎏
