A sequence of six images shows Jupiter with the shadows of three of its moons (Io, Callisto, and Ganymede) transiting across its surface. These shadows appear as dark spots on Jupiter's atmosphere. The images demonstrate the movement of the moons' shadows as they orbit the planet. This rare alignment helped early astronomers measure the speed of light.
