#Wayland runs successfully on more things than I think some might realize. For example, I successfully got this #BananaPi set up with #SlackwareARM 15.0, and got my favorite #wlroots compositor, #dwl.

Big thanks to @mozes, the maintainer of Slackware ARM […]

If you haven't followed my timeline, I picked up an original #BananaPi BPi-M1 from 2013 with the intent to install #SlackwareARM on it. That was a few months ago, and I still haven't had success. I think the problem stems from the SATA cable I bought. Upon whipping it out (my multimeter, not my […]

A screenshot from ARMedslack 12.2 (ARMedslack being the former name for Slackware ARM before Patrick Volkerding declared it an official spin of Slackware), showing WindowMaker and xterm, which is running pfetch. Much like my install of Slackware 8.1 from last week if you keep up with my timeline, I had to write an /etc/os-release file for pfetch to give more specific info on what distro I was running. I also modified pfetch to recognize the name "ARMedslack," since it normally only expects a variation of "Slackware."

Managed to get #SlackwareARM 12.2 running in QEMU this afternoon. This is back when the project was called #ARMedslack, and I managed to get pfetch working, though much like my #Slackware 8.1 install from last week, I had to create my own /etc/os-release file […]

Am currently in the process of trying to install #SlackwareARM on my #BananaPi. Hopefully it'll all go well.

My #BananaPi arrived today. Now all I gotta do is wait for the extras (SATA cable, SSD, SD card, USB-to-serial adapter), and I should be good to install #SlackwareARM on it :)

Just bought a #BananaPi on eBay. Gonna try #SlackwareARM 15.0 on it when it arrives.

Why use a minimally-supported Slackware ARM release on pitifully underpowered 32-bit ARM hardware in the big 2025? Because.

So, I just reinstalled #SlackwareARM on my Raspberry Pi 4, this time using a nice fast SATA SSD with a USB-to-SATA adapter. It now boots in about 12 seconds compared to the 90 or so seconds from the USB HDD I was using before.

APPARENTLY, get this, the Pi is supposed to be a low-power machine […]

So, I'm trying to get a relatively modern #Slackware #Linux install on my #RaspberryPi 1 model B, but the newest supported by #SlackwareARM is 14.2. That's where I wanna tackle #BonSlack.

Does anyone here know how to get BonSlack 15.0 installed on a Pi 1? I'm completely lost on how to do it […]

The Trinity desktop environment running on Slackware ARM/AArch64 on my Raspberry Pi 4. Onscreen are a terminal with fastfetch and the Falkon browser on the Slackware ARM website (arm.slackware.com), albeit with some slight scaling issues due to the window size being a bit small.

Successfully managed to get #TDE compiled for my #RaspberryPi 4 running #SlackwareAArch64. It's actually decently fast on the hardware, especially compared to regular KDE Plasma.

Slackware ARM 14.2 running on a Raspberry Pi 1B, with neofetch and a fortune

Slackware ARM 14.2 running on a Raspberry Pi 1B, with neofetch and a fortune

In a bizarre trip down memory lane for the history of #Slackware, I've successfully installed #SlackwareARM 14.2 on my #RaspberryPi 1B.

It's painfully slow, and not particularly practical, as I can only connect online (probably a bad idea) using ethernet […]

Internally debating whether I should pick up a #ThinkPad T43 and using it as my main #NetBSD machine. Currently I have an X260 running #Slackware and an X1 Carbon 6th gen running #CRUX and #Debian but I don't have a machine I can dedicate solely to NetBSD. I also got my Raspberry Pi 4 running […]

@mozes So now that #SlackwareARM is running on Apple silicon via paravirtualization, is there any sort of roadmap towards getting it to run on bare metal? With all the work the Asahi project has put into Linux's M-series Mac support, it shouldn't be too terrible to implement. If Slackware ARM […]

Today I managed to get a much more usable browsing experience on my Raspberry Pi 4 running #SlackwareARM. Switched from bloated Firefox over to nice sleek Falkon and configured my adblock lists to block out basically everything. Where on Firefox it plays sites like YT at less than 5 FPS, and […]

Lately I've thought about saving up to buy an old Surface RT tablet and trying to hack #slackwarearm onto it, but with 32-bit ARM support due to be EOL after the release of #slackware 15.1, I'm not sure if it's worth the effort. There's always BonSlack, I guess. Besides, I'd probably be better […]
