A sphere I painted on about my fifth day painting. This sphere is better than all of my pearls from class. But this practice took me three hours.
I think here is where I went wrong. The yellow Ochre color is on the shadow side of the reverse highlight. It is misplaced on the highlight side.
Lady next to me had a much easier time rendering her pearls
This is how far I got on my string of pearls in 3 hours. You can tell I was nowhere near as precise in the way I played in color, and blending once again, got out of control. I do like where I was headed with the gem.
Class pushes me. A lot of it is in preparation: time spent on the drawing maybe. But Im very careful, not slow, not methodical, but precise. Class forces me to rush to keep up.
Just finished 5/8 weeks. Nothing I do in class is as good as what I do at home.
