A slender spreadwing damselfly grasping a twig. It is facing up. The damselfly's body is black. The four wings are open and are transparent with small black marks at the outer upper edge of each. The thorax is also black with several light stripes. The stripes appear to be a light green in this photo. The head is also dark, with two brilliant blue eyes at the sides of its head.

A pair of spotted spreadwings in tandem. The male is at the left atop a stick which crosses the photo at the center. The female is on the right end of the stick. There is another stick behind them which crosses the photo diagonally from the left. The male is black with large blue eyes. Its four wings are clear except for veining and black spots at the bottom edge of each wing. He has his claspers in the back of her thorax, which is how they mate. She is grasping the bottom of the twig. Her body is more brown. Her front legs are grasping the stick and her body stretches down and curves back up to the stick, which she is holding onto the stick. Her eyes are dark.

A great spreadwing damselfly clinging to a twig. It is facing up. The damselfly has large blue eyes. Its thorax looks brown with a light stripe along the side. Its wings are held up diagonally above the body and are clear except for veining and black spots at the tip. The abdomen is dark, except for a light blue tip.

A great spreadwing damselfly on a stick. The damselfly fly's body is mostly black, with blue at the tip. It has four clear wings with veining showing and they are spread wide. There is a light stripe on the side of its thorax, which is otherwise dark. They eyes are blue.
