A female Evening Grosbeak sits on the left side of a tray feeder hanging from a Douglas Fir while her male partner sits on the right side. The female is a light grey color with black and white wings & tail and the male is a light brown with brilliant yellow markings on his body and wings as well as a bright yellow “mask”. Both have light pistachio-green beaks.

Mr. & Mrs. Evening Grosbeak are visiting us very early this year!

While they’re called grosbeaks (for obvious), they are actually finches.

His lil grumpy face delights me every year!
