Last week I decided to start trying to conversion of the FASA designs (as well as Star Trek in general) to #Starmada. Are you using a straight class to hull size conversion?
I gave the rear of the ship a big hangar deck because I didn't know what else to do with it, and since I'll be using the ship mainly as a 3d printed game piece, I figured it could be interesting to turn this into a slow carrier when I convert it into #Starmada and #VBAM.
Another one of those "I just feel like doing it" projects was to go in and do some 3d models for a few of the pregen ships from #Starmada (mj12games.com/starmada/mjg...). I wanted to see how quickly I could do some of these, and I think this one took me about half an hour from start to finish.
And here is the old Moskva cruiser (which I will be calling the Kyiv cruiser because I can!). I'm going to slot this into the post Daedalus but pre Baton Rouge Federation fleet in my #Starmada conversions, allowing it to bridge the two eras.
I've also started converting some of the new ships into #Starmada so I can start playtesting them and get them prepared for a future #VBAM #Starmada Edition book release. This has meant roughing out the ships and seeing if the number and type of weapons on the ship cards matches the models.
Continuing to try to cram other games into #starmada. It seems like it is working pretty well, but I think maybe I should focus on getting my #TTRPG game ready.
I am learning how to play #starmada, but apparently I also must integrate my favorite parts of #FASA #Trek #GURPS and #SFB. And make equipment lists. Why? For a Section 31 game that will probably never actually involve space combat. #sendhelp #overprepper
Someone on the Discord asked about a ship similar to the Archer, so I went ahead and did the Archer instead :D This little #StarTrek ship will make a good, cheap escort for my #TOS era #Starmada fleet.
Pics from last night's #Babylon5 #Starmada playtest game, 1 Omega vs. 1 Primus. The Centauri easily came out on top in this match, mostly because the Omega couldn't reliably land enough shots, and the Starfuries were taken out by the Primus' twin arrays before they could do too much damage.
I had the opportunity to convert some more #Babylon5 ships into #Starmada and play a few test battles. This lead to a few revisions to the ships and their weapons to integrate those playtest results as I continue converting more of the B5 ships into Starmada.
And here is my proposed starting point for the Baton Rouge in #Starmada. TL-1 across the board (versus the Constitution that has 2 TL @ -1 and 2 TL @ +0). I ended up making the Phase Cannons just inaccurate phasers, and the Photonic Torpedoes are worse photons.
A "quick" little 3d model I put together to represent a low tech #Starmada carrier that I did stats for earlier today to test out some concepts regarding just how low tech you can go and still have a viable fighting ship. For this ship I eschewed weapons, defenses, and engines for two fighter bays.
For some context, my #Starmada conversions of the original Constitution put it at TL 0/0/-1/-1 (so better Engine and Defense tech) and I plan on having the Baton Rouge be TL -1 across the board, putting it on par with the original Klingon D7 when it comes to tech level.
My final posts for the evening, and probably the last #Starmada ones for a bit since I really need to do other things.
Here are three prototype #Babylon5 ships for Starmada, trying to reconcile the differences between the old Starmada X version and the new edition released this year.
Here's the first set of draft conversions of #Romulan ships for #Starmada (yes, yes, I know there is a #SFU conversion out there that I haven't looked at or seen, this is just me messing around in my own head). This was mostly trying to convert my S:X versions of the FASA ships back over.
While I should have been doing other things yesterday afternoon and evening, I ended up playing #Starmada testing out #StarTrek conversions instead.
After some fiddling around, below is what I ended up converting for the Constitution/D7 and their movie era refits.
A metal miniature spaceship at 1/3000th scale. It is quite alien. The front has three coiled lasers up front housed on a shape kind of like a 2d dress? (Sorry I'm really poor at describing things!) Then a thin section that leads to a bigger part that's the same shape. This has 2 lasers either end. There's various domes and rectangle section on the surface.

No, no, the original #Starmada by that Dan Kast guy. @mj12games.bsky.social is the corporate sell out, and a front for Big Cubes, the massive conglomerate to sell more six-sided dice! Once ShadowRun and Champions became nostalgia games, they had to pivot to find new pushers...
You mean #Starmada by @mj12games.bsky.social ? That Starmada?!
NEVER HEARD OF IT. :D
I've heard the designer is a cool and neat guy, though. You should look him up.
I rediscovered the history for this ship earlier this year when I was looking back over some old #VBAM #Starmada campaign diaries and I decided it was time to go back and make #3dmodels of them to print out and have versions of them in the future, in case I ever wanted to play with them again.
Be careful! This "Danny" is not to be trusted! I've seen him skulking around in dark alleyways muttering incessantly about something called #Starmada. Very suspicious behavior if you ask me.
The ASEAN Musashi Dreadnought from my #SolarWar #VBAM campaign setting. Why had one spinal x-ray laser when you can have four of them? This was a fun ship to model, mostly because it existed just as a #Starmada ship for 10 years before I finally got back into #3dmodeling after I bought a 3d printer.
A picture of a 3d printed and painted EA Poseidon Supercarrier from #Babylon5Wars along with some Thunderbolts. This was a time consuming ship to model, but it captures the essence of the original AOG miniature. I still need to get it to the table in a game of #Starmada. #babylon5 #3dprinting
