A meridian carved in an ancient building. There's a sun-shaped piece above the meridian. When its shadow passes on the 8-shaped line, it's mean solar time. Zodiac signes carved. Diagonal lines give the path of the shadow on given days. There's also a standard sundial juste above the meridian on the wall, but almost erased ; you can see the arrows of the hour lines. This building has a sign "maison du cadran" (sundial house).
A sundial facing almost due south. The gnomon's shadow says it's just before 5pm. Given the time I took the picture, and accounting for the time zone, equation of time and longitude of the place, the time is correct within 5 minutes or less.
Sundial drawn on a white stone square, hour lines between 5 to 11 am solar time. The gnomon is pointing upwards (toward north celestial pole), showing it's a northern sundial, which is lit only in spring-summer, and only early in the morning. At this latitude, only hour lines 5 to ~8 as useful.

Spent a couple hours chasing old and new #sundials in Bayeux, Normandie, France, home of the famous tapestry.
1)A meridian giving true solar time and mean solar time.
2)A near-southern sundial.
3)A rare north-east sundial.
Couldn't spot the 4 old sundials on the cathedral: they stand 30m high.
