So I wasn't able to draw what I wanted to in the first place, I decided to share Prevaria's version of Valentine's! For now I've called it " The Blue Day ". It is a festival where a few things happen: a specific blue flower blooms in the night which gives the surroundings a blue glow from the moonlight, it's the day saplings start sprouting on their farmlands announcing that it'll be a good year and the birds have started making nests! Although this is celebrated across Prevaria, each village/region has a slightly different custom. In Landow, elders wake up early in the morning and tie little blue ribbons to the big mulberry tree. Throughout the day the entire village prepares for a feast, but once the ribbons are tied, people take one and offer it to their love interest. This is an activity that everyone takes part in, bus especially ones seeking a wife or husband. If the one you ask accepts the ribbon, then you spend the day together, making food together or just spending the time getting to know each other. The feast ends when the flowers bloom. That is the moment for the pairs to find a secluded place to decide whether they'll be together going forward or not. If you've given a ribbon, you're supposed to close your eyes and let your beloved choose. Will they stay,nor will they walk away? Often even when they walk away they will keep the ribbon as a sign that they wish to remember the day they spent with you, but maybe the timing just isn't right. It's often very embarrassing for the ribbon to be left behind. You're supposed to tie it back to the mulberry tree. If your beloved didn't want you, the tree loves all. It's supposed to be a comforting end. The comic I wanted to make was of a younger Sylvia offering a ribbon to someone she really liked but by the end of the day they leave and give back the ribbon. Big yikes. Sylvia can't take the embarrassment and throws it away. She's not very good with people in general.
Didn't get to draw the comic I wanted for today but I drew this. Really getting into this rendering stuff :)
