This is our 2nd (two are currently up for sale) an Airline model 7270 guitar made by National/Supro, a division of Valco in Chicago, circa 1965 for the Montgomery Ward department store. It is a beautiful, red, semi-hollow, double-cutaway, instrument with two gold foil covered, single coil pickups, a white pickguard on which all of the electronics are mounted. It has white rubberized binding, an adjustable rosewood bridge and a fixed covered, metal tailpiece. The body is constructed of “res-o-glas” which the National 1961 catalog describes as “polyester resins embeded with threads of pure gleaming glass...a new climatically immune miracle material of the space age-super durable-classically beautiful-functionally perfect.” This guitar is 100% original and in good condition with some small wear to tuners, pickup gold foil, and pickguard. The tones are amazing and with its fast action, it feels great to play. This is a unique, rare, beautifully designed guitar that has stayed well preserved for its approximately 60 years of existence. Jack White played one of these periodically in the White Stripes days. Don’t miss the opportunity to own this rare, red beauty. Description from VintageSilvertones.com

This is a Silvertone electric guitar made by Supro. It’s very similar to the Supro Rhythm Tone model. The guitar has a black finish and all gold hardware. It has one single-coil pickup, a modern-day, floating Tunomatic-style bridge in gold, a white plastic nut, and a rosewood fretboard with white, block inlays. This guitar is in good condition with minor ware/scrapes to the finish as one would expect for a guitar over 60 years old. The Silvertone Artist plate may be a replacement. There’s 2, filled in tiny nail holes on either side of gold plate. The guitar plays well with fast action and a straight neck. It’s a fun guitar to play with a nice range of tones. The tone control is the trick; which has a really nice roll-off of tone. Gig bag, no case included. Description from VintageSilvertones.com

This is a solid body, single cutaway, Supro tenor guitar, made by National/Valco circa 1955. This guitar features a green finish, with a black neck and headstock; a fixed, rosewood bridge; one metal covered, single coil pickup where the strings pass between the pickup and the cover; a black plate on which the bridge, pickup, tone controls, input and tailpiece are mounted; a black plastic pickguard; a slim fretboard across, on a thick, strong neck; and two metal strap pins. The tenor guitar has four strings and it is slightly smaller than a standard six-string. The first tenors were acoustic and created so that four-string tenor banjo players could easily switch to playing guitar without having to learn another instrument. Six-string guitars were starting to replace tenor banjos in jazz bands in the 1920’s and 1930’s. Those banjo players took on playing the tenor guitar to acheive the sound that the music required. Tenor guitars, since then, have fallen out of popularity and have become increasingly rare; however, apparently, there is a renewed interest in the the tenor guitar amongst guitar aficionados and players such as Elvis Costello, Neko Case and Ani DiFranco, amongst others, seeking fresh yet historic sounds. Don’t let this rare instrument slip through your fingers. Description from VintageSilvertones.com

This is a super, clean, 1955 Supro RANCHERO guitar made by National/Supro/Valco. This is the earliest version of the Ranchero. Supro used the Ranchero name for guitars from the 1950s (possibly late 1940s) to the 1960s with various configurations. It will make an excellent addition to any collection. The pickup sounds amazing and is very strong. The tone control gives a nice range of raw to smooth/jazzy. The electronics all work correctly and are mounted directly onto the pickguard. This Supro Ranchero is an off-white (cream-colored white-neck detail photos are the most accurate color representation) translucent (the tiger-stripe woodgrain can be seen in the body, neck, and headstock), hollow body guitar with a fully bound body, 19 fret neck, plastic nut, and a single-coil pickup. The Supro logo is on a stamped brass plate with the Supro logo in blue. It’s 100% original and practically new-old-stock. It must have not been played much over the years. Newer hard shell case.
