Sympathy VS Empathy
With GPT and artificial intelligence, anything made by hand doesn't really seem to be in trend anymore.
But | still love drawing when | get overwhelmed.
Sympathy is...
You understand that someone is hurting.
You feel sorry for them.
But you don't actually live their feelings.
Often, this is when we want to:
β rescue
β say something uplifting
β analyze the situation
β and hang up some LED lights to show the way
Like:
βCome on, don't worry so much β at least your second child is doing great.β
βDonβt be sad, back in our days we handled things much better."
βJust think about something positive and let's go get distracted.β
Empathy is shared feeling.
You try to step into the other person's place.
To feel what they feel.
It sounds more like:
β| can imagine how much this hurts right now.
I don't know what to do about it.
But may | stay with you in your darkness
and listen, whenever you're ready?β
Sympathy β βI feel sorry for you"
