There will be more to say, but for now worth remembering what happened the last time the feds struck a "grand bargain" with #AB. The only thing left over from that deal to get #AB support for climate action is the #TMX pipeline.

Analysts at TD Cowen warn that without these additions, Western Canadian producers could face transportation bottlenecks again as soon as 2027.

But with plans to double #oil production by 2035, they see this as a start, not the finish line.

#TMX optimization costs ~$4 billion. A new build would cost vastly more and face massive hurdles.
"We just finished a pipeline. It’s paid for by the Canadian taxpayer, and we’re trying to make it better for them."

4. Carney would have to spend tens of billions in scarce public money to build a project that will be privately owned by international investors. The #TMX pipeline expansion cost the Canadian public more than $34 billion to construct, $20 billion of which is unlikely to ever be recovered. 12/
