The TX GOP had already shored up its vulnerable incumbents after 2020. Its new map goes on offense by adding red turf to blue districts—but it takes that turf only from the safest GOP seats.
Example: #TX36 moved 12 points to the left. But it's still Trump+25 & Cruz+16.
Take #TX36, east of Houston. This district got 12 points bluer in the new gerrymander—the biggest blue shift of any GOP-held seat.
But that dropped it from a Trump+37 district to Trump+25. Still super-red turf.
