Grey Shoulder-knot on wood
3 Early Greys on wood
Frost on the car but some beautiful and hardy moths braved the weather in Marbury: 6/15. Highlight again was this Oak Beauty. Also lots of grey with 3 Early Greys and a Grey Shoulder-knot. I used to get the 2 mixed up embarrassingly! My attention to detail has needed some working on! #teammoth
It’s a day for ‘washing the pots’ and looking ahead to better times…

Just this one Small Quaker braved the temperature yesterday evening #teammoth
Given rain in the early part of the night followed by clear skies and temperatures down to 1.2C I wasn't surprised at the very quiet trap for @gardenmothscheme.bsky.social VC61 last night.
Hebrew Character (2), Common Quaker and mustn't grumble at a NFY Pale Pinion #TeamMoth
My first ever Small Brindled Beauty was around the door light. Unfortunately the 🕷's had got to it first. Letheringham, Suffolk. #Teammoth
Just a day late for #MothFaceFriday here’s a headshot of a Grey Shoulder-knot! #teammoth

Burdock Seedhead Moth
Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the cutest moth of all? No?! Me? Little old Burdock Seedhead Moth? You’re so kind. I’m just a tiny little moth, new to NA and happy to eat all your prickly burdock seeds. Is it my fault if little makes you cuter?

Turnip Moth (Agrotis segetum).
A Turnip Moth for #MothFaceFriday. I didn't like the antennae on either of these shots, so they didn't make the cut last year. #teammoth
The very attractive and different shaped Toulgoetia cauteriata - moth-trapping at CIMA, Tarifa, Cadiz Province, Andalucia, Spain on the 11th of March 2026. It is a spring flying moth and I usually see 20 to 50 per year. However, something different happened in 2023 when I saw 145, nearly half of all the ones I have seen!)
And it is not just about the moths - here is my butterfly of the day! - a Speckled Wood - Pararge aegeria aegeria which is much brighter coloured than the subspecies found in Britain and Northern Europe! - moth-trapping at CIMA, Tarifa, Cadiz Province, Andalucia, Spain on the 11th of March 2026.
