#TechTip: Report fake accounts I'm a big fan of the Africanis dog and also run a Facebook page. It's all about awareness around the Africanis, #AdoptDontShop, Animal Rescue and more, all for a good cause. The more upset I was seeing a fake Africanis page on Facebook, trying to scam people for their good intention. Even the Africanis url is redirecting to some money-making scheme.

#DarkPatterns: LinkedIn disguises gaming ad as notification I like LinkedIn, because it's a network of professionals. Accordingly, I expect content that is relevant to professionals. I'm coming to terms with the decline of quality and the invasion of clickbait. But I'm shocked to see that LinkedIn actively advertises games, disguised in 'Notifications'. Furthermore, the worst FOMO triggers are being used: Stating a big number of others justifies conforming to the new norm.

#FraudAlert: How to protect yourself against the SIM Swap Scam SIM Swap Scams are on the rise, but there's something you can do to prevent it in the first place: How to prevent SIM swapping: Request a Number Lock or Port Freeze from your mobile network provider and lock the account to your current SIM. Once a number is locked, it cannot be ported to another SIM. That means should you want to move your phone number over to another SIM, you will need to first remove the lock, usually with a PIN number or by physically walking into the store.
