Partial pringles can (still sour cream and onion flavour) with a little arched doorway cut into it and the top cut off diagonally and rather randomly. It's got a small doorstep of XPS blocks and up to the arching the tower has XPS bricks along its side. Because I'm all for convenience I've stuck a wood glue bottle that's nearly empty upside down in the tower can

Pringle Castle is developing! Another tower has been started and this one is going to be a complete PITA for cladding with bricks on the inside, so I'm already thinking of shortcuts for that 😂

I've been sort of fixated on the idea of making stone "streets" for my stone buildings, so tried this as a proof of concept. Not the most labor intensive, but the results are maybe not great either?

I’ve made significant progress on my Trench Crusade board the last two days and I’m really happy with how it’s turning out. I’ve used one piece of foam so far and have a whole second piece to cut and build yet, however.

So not only in this place I found an incredible unanimity among nerds over how High the parapet should be. I shared it in two other places and got a total of over 50 responses and only one person was and still is adamant about the parapet having to be higher […]

A cardboard circle with a broken stick sticking up in the middle and some L-shaped pieces of cardboard sticking up at the edges.

This was to give a sort of structure for the next step, although I eventually added parts of toilet paper roll cut up (rounded cardboard) inside for extra structure.
I didn't measure anything properly and went entirely by feel because a) that was more fun for me, and b) it felt more like an orc or goblin way to do it, and I was going for crude.

The circle structure covered in kitchen towel making some sort of cave or hut like structure.

I soaked a kitchen towel in probably too watered down wood glue (apparently my kids used up the PVA glue for... Nothing, really?) and tried to drape it over. Not fancy, probably not great.
I realized I wanted more structure, so I put in quickly cut bits of toilet paper roll in this stage, doing some damage in the process.

"Hut" from the back. It's a mess.

Commentary: Yeah, see previous.

Hut slightly finagled to look a bit more like a hut.

I did this by taking some cut offs and another towel and trying to patch things up.

Making an experimental and very crude attempt at making some sort of hut. Figured I'd document my process for posterity/inspiration/cautionary tale.

Phew. The drybrushing really helps toning the garishness down a lot. Once again trusting the process has prevailed.

Threw on some color, thinking I'll make the windows glossy black and maybe add some wood stainer for wear on the building. Also some sand and leaves on the ground.

I added sand and little stones for extra texture. They are now at the same point as where I was with the original prototype.

Next step I plan to add a paint and plaster mix as a primer.

I'm trying to build some sort of Nissen hut. Not sure why, it's too "new" to fit fantasy models and too old to fit sci-fi models, but it might look cool anyway.

Dry bushing and washing the trunk and roots. The texture is from scratching the epoxy putty with a life while it was still soft plus the twisted florist wire showing through. I'll put some sort of detail in the hole under the roots but haven't decided what […]

I mean it's not much but I've had time and opportunity to do some minimal painting. Slapped diluted ink with medium over these pillboxes for #TrenchCrusade. They came flat, basic, 3d printed and earlier I smacked cheap filler and sand over them. Talk about budget […]
