Remember when US network fetishised the US President to such an extent he was the lead in a sci-fi series? God this has dated badly. Another high budget, high concept US network show that failed. Rightly cancelled.

Unlike #Threshold and #TheEvent whose arc decisions I hated and believe me this show had some bad self destructive choices too I do recommend this. Lake Bell, Jay R. Ferguson and Carter Jenkins are all great in this. The first 11 eps are a fab ride.

This pilot is superb. Made just 5 years after my last watch #TheEvent, both being NBC related, but feels like it's 25 years newer.
The characters are all interesting. It's filmed well and creatively. The narrative is subtle and hypnotic.

It was a bumpy ride but I wasn't in the mood for generic TV with weak ideas. Yes it's better than some contemporary sci-fi thrillers (eg #Threshold).
But his show is a relic of network TV and other than nostalgia I don't recommend it.

Thank God it's over. The problem was that as sci-fi it felt like an idea 1991 spat out not 2011.
As TV it was copying so many other shows but the sci-fi concepts were puerile, vain and didn't drive drama.

Our heroes repeatedly resort to torture. This is trying to show an underbelly/desperation to the plot but is showing up these TV level heroes as cowards. I'm ok with anti-heroes but that isn't what they are going for. It is openly legitimising torture. Irresponsible.

Producer Evan Katz from 24 went back to the 24 spin offs as well as a couple of 1 season fails.
Lisa Zwerling had been Producer in ER did little else after. (No wonder half this f'ing show was set in a hospital corridor).
