Omg this is such a dumb trope, suggesting that Sonny is somehow more viscerally in touch with the gritty realities of racing than the stuck-up F1 racers, but we also just saw him reading the book, learning how to drive the car. This is fucking HILARIOUS, unintentionally. This is the most unintentionally hilarious movie I think I've ever seen.
Again, it's shocking they didn't have him pop the asphalt into his mouth and chew it. I bet they shot a version where he did, too.
OMFG they show Sonny kneeling (on the racetrack before anyone else) & grabbing some of the asphalt.
