The gankyil (Tibetan) or “wheel of joy” (Sanskrit: ānanda-cakra) is a symbol and ritual tool used in Tibetan and East Asian Buddhism. It consists of three whirling and interconnected blades. It often constitutes the wheel hub in the Dharma Wheel (dharmachakra), symbolizing the Three Marks of Existence: impermanence (anicca), suffering (dukkha), and non-self (anatta).
