It is extra unfortunate that Oregon Democrats have failed to fund transit & cut investment in bicycling/rail as a fuel crisis begins

There are transportation alternatives Oregon should have invested in, but they took every opportunity to support cars above all

I’m disappointed that we continue to have representatives with these priorities, but I think there is something to be said for the general public’s disinterest around transit funding

Testimony submitted was approximately ~150 pieces, which is not a lot given the scope of the bill

There is still time to submit testimony to the Oregon legislature and call your representatives

Don’t let them kneecap our rail funding and direct bike registration fee to supporting highways

Transportation advocate have warned legislators that highway expansion funding is unsustainable and now the that bill is coming due they’re cutting bicycle and train funding to make up for part of it

Please write into your legislators

Yeah I agree with @stephenkb.bsky.social here. #WashingtonDC #Metro stations some of my favourites in world. #TransitSky

This isn’t Corvallis specific but if you want to help secure funding for transit please write in

In context of how much highway expansions cost, 3 million is tiny

Here is a little side project I recently put together to shed some light on the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) network in Campinas, Brazil.

Like many other cities across South America, Campinas eventually caught on to the utterly viral BRT frenzy! Other modes of transportation (such as trolleybuses and light rail) had been proposed earlier to ease road congestion and improve mobility across a metropolitan area home to more than 3.5 million inhabitants, but the idea of implementing a BRT system ultimately won out in 2011.

However, it took a little over a decade before the BRT network began to be gradually brought into service, starting with the launch of BRT20 on Corredor Campo Grande in 2022.
Corredor Ouro Verde followed in 2023 with the opening of BRT10.
Corredor Perimetral opened last in 2024, completing the originally planned network.

As shown on the map, the system consists of seven lines, distributed across three major corridors totaling almost 37km: Campo Grande, Ouro Verde and Perimetral.
When heading towards the city center, some lines extend beyond their dedicated eastern terminal (Mercado or Central) to run along what is locally known as Corredor Central - a ring-like collection of five one-way avenues looping through the city center, where regular traffic and urban transit are physically segregated.
After completing their loop - serving both Terminal Mercado and Terminal Central along the way - these lines rejoin their respective corridors to continue their outbound journey.

Lines operating on the Ouro Verde and Perimetral corridors stop at all stations up to one of three main terminals - BRT12 to Santa Lúcia, BRT10 to Ouro Verde and BRT11 to Vila Nova.
Lines running along Corredor Campo Grande also serve either of two major terminals: Satélite Íris and Campo Grande. Additionally, they are further divided into all-stops ("parador") for BRT20 and BRT25 or semi-express ("semi-espresso") services for BRT21 and BRT26.

This is HB 4085
You can read it on the oregon legislature website and it exempts robotaxis from some equipment requirements and prevents local governments from regulating, taxing, or requiring a license for these networks

Please write your representatives and tell them to redirect funds from Highway expansions (such as the rose quarter) to transit & maintenance

We cannot let safety programs be sacrificed to fund our addiction to building highways

This project creates a protected bike corridor, raises pedestrian crossings, adds patio space for restaurants, & overall makes the street better for pedestrians

Hopefully in the future we can increase the bus frequency and extend the lanes downtown
