Going through the pictures taken last October, when travelling on board the new #Amtrak 🇺🇸 #NextGenAcela high-speed train on the “Northeast Corridor” to New York. This #Alstom #Acela is a close relative to the future French #TGV, and it’s actually quite stylish. Top speed was above 250 kph.

A wide view of Amtrak Cascades 7304, the bistro car. There are some paint scuffs from transit. On the right the end looks mostly clean. On the left the last few feet of the next car over is still attached to this one. The Talgo series cars were designed by Mexican-American artist, Cesar Vergara.
When visitors see the bistro car at the Museum the most common question we get is: "Was that Amtrak car part of the accident?"
Nope!

#amtrak DC to NYC. They announced, as we blew by the Newark airport station, that we will not be stopping. A mile later we stopped and sat idle for twenty minutes then backed up to Newark as the pace of a brisk walk. I do not understand how they can suck so relentlessly.
