Hildene was the summer home for Robert (Abraham’s son) and Mary Lincoln. It sits on 412 acres as a historic property and active educational site. The mansion sits atop a forested hill and overlooks a dene (or valley) between the Taconic and Green Mountains in Manchester, VT. The grounds and house are open to the public. President Lincoln’s great granddaughter Peggy, was the last family member to live at Hildene until 1975.
