2. On the 8th August 1943 Corporal Lily Thorpe died aged 42 while in service for her country. Her remains are buried at Rose Hill Cemetery. Also, Private Walter Holbrey is buried in the same grave. #WW2 #WAAF

A beautiful painting of Noor Inayat Khan; also known as Nora Baker or ‘Madeleine’ her SOE codename. Sent to occupied France as a wireless operator Khan was betrayed, captured, and executed at Dachau in 1944. She was posthumously awarded the George Cross for gallantry #WAAF #SOE
