Notable increases recorded in dam levels following recent rainfall NAMIBIA’S key dams have experienced notable increases in water levels following recent rainfall, according to the latest dam bulletin issued by the Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater) on Thursday. NamWater spokesperson Lot Ndamanomhata in the dam bulletin said the Hardap Dam has experienced a strong inflow of 1004.6 million cubic metres (Mm³)/second, bringing the water capacity of the dam to 35.9%. This represents an increase from the 24.3% recorded on Monday. The Swakoppoort Dam showed a moderate rise to 43.5% from 39.4% recorded on Monday. Water levels in the Naute Dam rose to 54.1% compared to 50.1% recorded Monday. The bulletin further says the Von Bach Dam’s capacity rose to 49.6% from 39.4% last week, while the Omatako Dam in the Otjozondjupa region recorded an increased water level of 26.2% capacity from 25.8%. “The Neckartal Dam in the //Kharas region continues to lead in capacity. The dam currently stands at 84.2% with the highest accumulated inflow of 214.8 Mm³, following significant rainfall of 18.559 mm,” reads the notice. The bulletin further showed that the water in the Oanob Dam in the Hardap region rose from 32.5% on Monday to 36.4% on Thursday.
