ok, #Wavellite is the mineral that couldn't decide what it wanted to be when it grew up. It's sometimes clear or sometimes yellow... or green... or maybe blue. It can form need little round nodules. Or ... long thin needles. It's not a geode, but it's often found inside other rocks. It's... confused

This piece of wavellite has a seam running horizontally with some round crystals protruding off the face. In the face around the spheres, there are rays.

Betroydal wavellite with some split crystals to show the radiating lime pattern these stones have. A lime is a very good reference for the inside, while a green cheese puff describes the whole crystal. This is a rectangular carrier rock with wavellite clustered in the center left
A close up of wavellite with a more blue/Grey coloration on the ends with a pop of lime green in the center. The radial crystals are truly very pretty, with the spokes of this mineral clearly defined. Absolutely gorgeous.
A large wavellite crystal sits on a carrier rock with a cluster of betroydal pale green lumps under the striking main crystal. This looks like an owl eye with an iris, a pupil, and an outer cornea all in lime green and separated by rings. The deep green/black in the center is a striking contrast.
Some unbroken betroydal crystals of wavelite to show it as a whole, as opposed to the cross sections before. Lumpy circular shape, with carrier rock at the bottom and the lime green nodules of wavellite above.
#wavellite is an aluminium basic phosphate mineral.
Distinct crystals are rare, and it normally occurs as translucent green radial or spherical clusters.
Its cute, but it's going down.

In last year's MinCup, #dioptase vs. #wavellite was a tough call. It's tough again this year. It'd be shallow to decide based on liking deep green better than yellow-green... but dioptase is a pyroelectric desert beauty, and it can be a gemstone or a pigment. I vote for dioptase. #MinCup25

I'm still offended by MinCup's "the most generic gemstone" comment about corundum last year, but I'm also still more committed to vivianite's legacy.
Both of these mins have hurt me & both are gorgeous powerhouses with so much to offer, but I'm sticking with #Wavellite for #MinCup25!
