The Boulder Dushanbe Tea House entrance is a beautiful display of blue and green tile work. This winter scene is cold but the interior is lovely and warm. From a site about Boulder: "This is a gift to the people of Boulder to make their souls happy..." The Teahouse, which officially opened May 15, 1998, is a gift from Boulder's sister city, Dushanbe, Tajikistan and is the most significant and largest piece of Central Asian art and the only one of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. Handcrafted by over 40 Tajik artisans, the Teahouse is a feast for the eyes with its vibrant colors, patterns and furnishings. "
The Valmont Power Plant, which the City of Boulder tried unsuccessfully to acquire for several years, was designed to be water powered, but transmogrified to a coal-fired steam plant, alter modified to gas, but not before depositing all kinds of toxins in the area. However, it was built in the 1920s and has a lot of nice structural details. This shot shows the power plant next to Valmont Reservoir. The buildings are red brick with large windows. There are three stacks on one side. The setting is winter, with a hazy view of the nearby foothills covered with snow.
Boulder Mountain Parks have lots of wonderful trails. Most are very steep and give you quite a workout. This is a scenic hot of Mt Sanitas and the trails going around it. The mountain has a mix of grasslands, shrubs and trees. There is a ridge of sandstone fins at the top of the main trail. Once you reach the end of that ridge climb you can go down off the left side and sigh with relief when you hit the parking lot.
A bench sits at the edge of a trail on Flagstaff mountain, shaded from the morning sun. The boulders piled up on the edge are lighted up by the rising sun. There are pine trees behind the bench. Looking out from this spot, you can see Boulder in an early morning blue haze.

Boulder has beautiful neighborhoods and an interesting history! Below, photos of the Dushanbe Tea House, the Valmont Power Plant, and a couple of Boulder Mountain Park scenes give a very superficial feel for the area, which I really loved.
