Filament removed from the rapido hot end in my Xol-metrix toolhead showing a collar of melted ASA that has shifted the PTFE back enough to allow it to block the filament path.

When I went to print the b-side z drives I ran into heat creep.

I had a bunch of successful prints through this (kilos of ASA) and had already printed nine or so hours of ASA earlier in the day.

Upgraded Voron 2.4

I finally finished our Voron 2.4 upgrades! Our Simpleasels are proving quite popular and I wanted to improve some things. XOL + NH36 + Orbiter 2 + Beacon + 0.8mm nozzle.

Hoping to improve strength, consistency, and print speed.

A generic voron cube printed in Prusament Opal Green PLA. The cube is standing on its corner on my workbench showing the bottom surface.

First print off the Xol toolhead on my Trident.

Not tuned yet, just running one of my old Stealthburner slicer profiles.

Happy with the progress. Now to get it all tuned in and start working on the next project.

A voron trident in the later stages of a rebuild. A new toolhead is mounted on the gantry but the wiring is clearly in need of tidying and cables and ptfe tubes hang loosely around it.

New Xol-metrix toolhead added.

U2C and EBB36 boards are flashed and communicating. The esoterical guide made this process very straight forward.

Now to reconfigure `printer.cfg` to account for this newness then we can tidy things up.

A mess of cables, cable chains, a couple redundant sensors and parts pulled from the trident as I simplify the wiring to use a canbus toolhead board on the new toolhead.

Pulled just a few wires out of the :voron: trident today.

Tomorrow I route the new canbus cable, then I try to make it all talk to each other.

A nearly complete Xol toolhead on a workbench. The wires are unrouted and hang loosely. The toolhead has an additional segment between the hot end and the extruder to add a filament cutter. Next to the toolhead are the ebb36 toolhead board with strain relief mount and a Chaotic Labs CNC Tap V2.

Got about as far as I can reasonably manage with my Xol until my Delta 2510 shows up. But I’m far enough to get weights with a placeholder fan.

The Stealthburner (CW2, Rapido 2, PCB Klicky, LDO toolhead board) with stock carriage came in at 401g

Two assembled beefy idlers sitting on my work bench.

Next step in the trident rebuild: Clee’s beefy idlers.

The stock idler design is bad, now that I have loose belts it’s time to upgrade that ticking time bomb.

These seem like a much better design and should allow a bit more clearance for Xol as well.

The body of an Xol toolhead printed in KVP Stellar blue sitting vertically on the bed of a 3d printer that has just printed it. The supports have been removed from the Xol body and it’s ready for assembly when the rest of the parts arrive.

First step in the Xol build. Now I need my fans and hardware to show up.

That poor Stealthburner probably has no idea it’s printing its own demise.
