Cold day in The Fridge aka hide A at #Seaforth. Nonetheless, a nice flush of #BeeOrchids, 1st ever fledged #Avocets for the reserve, numerous Black-headed Gull chicks & the first #CommonTern chicks of the year. #RoseateTern still, Little & 3 Med Gull inc an adult dressed appropriately. #LancsBirding

The #BeeOrchids in my lawn emerged late this year and not as robust as previous years, maybe due to lack of rain. First leaves to emerge were blackened and I feared the plants had died. But now fresh leaves and stems - 6 spotted so far.

Finally, #BeeOrchids in my #NoMowMay lawn have emerged. Only 6 plants spotted so far. Quite late in the month; not as robust as usual, maybe due to lack of rain. First leaves to emerge were blackened and I feared the plants had died. But now fresh leaves and stems ☺️

Time for a bit of botanising too. Some lovely #BeeOrchids plus Northern? Marsh, #WaterCrowfoot and some nice carpets of #YellowWort and #ScarletPimpernel. Not bad for what I've heard described as a piece of 'wasteland' in Liverpool docks. Here's to more wasteland.

Delighted to see a Grey Partridge & 2 Bee Orchids near Dullingham.
Self-heal (Prunella vulgaris) & Spotted Medick (Medicago arabica) were among the other wayside flowers.
