This European ground beetle paid me a visit while I was loading firewood into the woodshed this afternoon; the wind was pretty intense today and I assume he was taking shelter. I've seen lots of these critters around but never one this big!

The palmetto bugs are out here in Florida! These guys are super cool, basically little fearless bug tanks, if you're not familiar. Haven't seen many, but I've seen 2 over the last couple of days and I haven't been this happy since we had cicadas here.
