The root of the problem could very well be that many peeps who need to use bikes for transportation have never been taught the #ROTR. They're POBs, pedestrians on bikes.
They don't think of themselves as #cyclists.
Dangerous on the roads due to ignorance, and the dangers amplify at higher speeds

I'm not saying reckless car drivers aren't a problem too.
What I'm saying is that #RecklessCyclists make Montreal's #BikeLanes UNsafe for other #cyclists & #pedestrians.
I have had VERY close calls as both a #cyclist & a #pedestrian, & I have witnessed reckless cyclists endangering other people.

There's anything wrong with having a rigorous #BikeLane audit.
There's definitely room for improvement of not only the infrastructure, lighting & signage of #BikeLanes themselves, but also ensuring the safety of #cyclists & #pedestrians who are at risk thanks to #RecklessCyclists etc.

There's a lot more that needs to be done to improve safety on Montréal's #BikeLanes than wearing a helmet. It's certainly recommended to do so, but wearing a helmet does nothing to prevent dangerous #cyclists and other users (such as electric scooter riders) from "reckless riding".
